Weight when diving without a wetsuit: what to know
Without neoprene most of your lift comes from your body and the tank. Many lean divers need very little or no extra weight.

Worked example
For an 80 kg diver with an average build, wearing no suit and using an aluminum 80 tank in saltwater, the calculator estimates 2.5 kg (5.5 lb). Your number will differ with your body and gear, so enter your own values above and then do a buoyancy check.
Common questions
Do I need weights without a wetsuit?
Often 1 to 3 kg. Check at the surface with an almost empty tank.
Is a rash guard the same as no suit?
Close enough. It adds negligible lift.
Can I dive with no weight at all?
Some lean divers can in warm water with a steel tank, but always check at the surface with a nearly empty tank.
Do I need weight with a rash guard or dive skin?
Usually only a little, because these add almost no lift.
Why use the calculator with no suit?
To see how much of your weighting comes from your body and tank alone.
